Do you remember Chatur Ramalingam aka Omi Vaidya, the annoying NRI student from Aamir khan starrer ‘3 Idiots’ is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood. Omi Vaidya, the Indian-American actor who won over millions of fans with his epic ‘Chamatkar’ speech in Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. The Los Angeles-based actor will return after five years with Abhinay Deo’s upcoming ‘Raita’. Well he is back in Bollywood and this time he has annoyed Irrfan Khan in real. It happened on the sets of the comedy titled Raita.
The star of Raita, Irrfan Khan and the two actors were shooting a scene together in a Mumbai studio. Director Abhinay Deo was helming the scene but Omi kept slipping up. One take, then the second and on and on it went. Omi could not deliver the scene even after two hours. Irrfan Khan, who started off patiently, was fuming by the end of it.
We are told that Irrfan smoked two packets of cigarettes in frustration. Omi took so many retakes that Irrfan finally went up to the director and quipped, ‘Isko acting kisne sikhayi?’. Abhinay too was at his wit’s end by that time and finally got up from his seat and gave Omi a stern warning.
Abhinay Deo’s Raita went on floors in April & Omi joined the cast in May. According to the director, ‘Raita’ is ‘Mumbai-centric quirky comedy’. Talking about the movie he said, “It falls in the same genre as Delhi Belly (2011). The comedy is situational.”
Besides ‘3 Idiots’, Omi was also seen in ‘Dil To Baccha Hai Ji’, Desi Boyz, Players and Jodi Breakers. After 2012, though he was not active in Bollywood but he kept himself busy in US. Omi is playing a gay character in his latest release ‘Here Or To Go?’. He is also seen in ‘Brown Nation’ on Netflix.
