Sachin – A Billion Dreams has finally released last Friday, and for a docu-drama, the film is doing fantastic business at Box Office. The biopic made Rs 27.85 crore in the opening weekend, and it made around Rs 6 crore on Monday. While a lot was being said about the film before the release, now the biopic is in news for other reasons.
There have been several reports about how much did Sachin Tendulkar charge for the film. Reports said that people aren’t aware of the ‘whopping fees’ that Sachin charged for this biopic, as unlike MS Dhoni, the legendary cricketer also participated in the promotions of the film.
While a report in DNA said that Tendulkar has charged somewhere close to Rs 40 crore, another report in TOI suggested that all the rumours about the whopping amount of fees is false. The reports said that a spokesperson of the film has put the speculations to rest and said –
‘The suggestion on Tendulkar’s fee for ‘Sachin A Billion Dreams’ is incorrect and grossly overstated. Sachin has completely backed this project which has resulted in creation of a commercially viable genre of docu-drama for the Indian film industry.’
Uum, so what exactly is the truth, ehh?
