During gender debates, we discuss favouritism of sexes but equality of the gender is often misinterpreted. Yes, women are not being treated equal but many a times, even men’s equality is not considered. And the incident we are talking about here is one of the examples.
In an incident that came to light recently, a South African man was left traumatised after he was kidnapped, drugged and raped by three women. Yes, you read it right. The ordeal of the 23-year-old man began when he took a communal taxi in Pretoria which had three young women inside.
Reports said that the gang of women force-fed the man energy drinks before taking turns raping him numerous times for three days. The women injected him with a substance that made him pass out, and what happened next is unbelievable. Not only this, they then abandoned him in a semi-naked situation in a field to die.
Here’s what South African Police Service Captain Colette Weilbach said –
‘He stated that he woke up in an unfamiliar room with a single bed. The female suspects then allegedly forced the man to drink an energy drink before taking turns raping him numerous times a day. The South African Police Service take all sexual offences seriously regardless of gender. (We assure) all victims of these types of crimes that we will carry out robust investigations to bring offenders to justice.’
Incidents of rape and sexual violence have increasingly started becoming an epidemic in South Africa.
