We bet you’ve all heard about Karan Johar becoming a father to twins – a boy and a girl – through surrogacy. While celebrities couldn’t stop congratulating him, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Azmi mocked Karan’s surrogate kids. Yes, you read it right.
In what might spark a controversy, Abu Azmi mocked the filmmaker for taking the surrogacy route to become a single father. While speaking to media outside the Vidhan Bhawan, Azmi accused Karan Johar of resorting to the ‘drama of surrogacy’ because ‘he couldn’t get a girl to marry’.
Here’s what he said –

Meanwhile, Karan was supported by Women and Child Welfare Minister of Maharashtra Pankaja Munde, who said that he had every right to be a parent and that he has done nothing wrong.
This is not the first time that the political leader has courted a controversy. Earlier in January this year, he commented on the Bengaluru mass molestation and said that the women are the ones who are to be blamed for rape. He said, ‘In these modern times, the more skin women show, the more they are considered fashionable. If my sister or daughter stays out beyond sunset celebrating December 31 with a man who isn’t their husband or brother, that’s not right.’
Not only this, the Samajwadi Party leader also gained widespread criticism for his comments on rape. He said that rape is punishable under Islam and that if any woman, whether married or unmarried, goes with a man with or without his consent, she should be hanged.
Karan released a statement after he became a proud father of twins. He took to Twitter to share the news.
