The nation lauded the surgical strikes and gave credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian Army. But very few people know that the brainchild behind the attack was Ajit Doval.
Yes, India’s fifth National Security Advisor is the man behind the surgical strikes that marked a shift of Indian policy of ‘strategic restraint’.
And the first signs of this shift were visible when Ajit Doval summoned the BSF Director General and asked him to respond to Pakistan’s ‘slight provocation’ on the border with ‘full force’.
He had then told the BSF to ‘fire at will’ and systematically destroy their infrastructure.
If reports are to be believed, Doval spent his Thursday night at the WAR ROOM at South Block. The entire operation along the LoC was closely monitored by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chief of Army Staff Dalbir Singh and Doval himself.
The reports also compared the atmosphere in the war room with the night when Osama bin Laden was killed by US Special Forces and President Barack Obama was monitoring the situation.
So, what exactly happened inside the WAR ROOM? Click the slide to know…
