Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali is not only a brand but a revolution in India’s herbal market. Baba Ramdev’s Rs 2000-crore company is growing day by day. But it seems everything is NOT well for the Yoga guru.
Why? Because Patanjali has been fined Rs 11 Lakh due to ‘misbranding and putting up misleading advertisements’ of their products. A local court in Haridwar slapped the company’s five production units with the fine.
ADM Lalit Narayan Mishra’s court asked the company to pay the fine within a month.
Well, a case was filed against the company in 2012 by the District Food Safety Department because their samples of salt, mustard oil, besan, pineapple jam and honey failed quality tests at Rudrapur laboratory.
According to reports, the products were in violation of sections 52-53 of Food Security norms and section 23.1 (5) of Food Safety and Standard /9packaging and labelling) regulation.
Earlier in July, Advertising Standards Council of India or ASCI had pulled up Patanjali for their ‘misleading ad campaigns’.
