The Madhya Pradesh government is struggling to restore peace in the state after the farmers protest turned violent. The farmers in MP have been protesting since June 1, demanding debt relief and better prices of the produce. After the protests turned violent, five farmers were shot dead in firing on Tuesday in MP’s Mandsaur. While MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to Twitter to appeal to the farmers to end the violence, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi is on his way to Mandsaur to meet the farmers and address their problems.
After the situation in the violence-hit Mandsaur turned uglier, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has come up with some incentives. Women and Child Development Minister Archana Chitnis said –
‘We are working on a formula. This is not a loan-waiver scheme but interest is likely to be waived. We would come out with details later.’
The scheme could benefit over six lakh farmers at a cost of around Rs 2000 crore to the taxpayer. Shivraj Singh Chouhan accused Congress for inciting violence in the state. Amidst all the political drama over the protests, we came across a Facebook post by one Mayank Tiwari. The Facebook post claimed to have shown what the ‘farmers’ are doing at on Indore-Bhopal Highway, and how the common man is terrified and suffering.
He wrote –
‘Now see this.. What type of farmer’s does such inhumane act. This is clear case of provocating violence. No farmer supports such violence in any case. Proper investigation is required.
Please avoid indore-bhopal highway for next few days.
Share it maximum to aware people.’
