A toll official working at Kherki Daula toll plaza in Gurugram was almost kidnapped by some goons in broad daylight at gunpoint after he asked them to pay the toll tax. The incident happened on Thursday with a 35-year-old Manoj Kumar, who is the Assistant Manager at Skylark that manages the Expressway.
Here’s what happened –
Kumar, while doing his duty, had a tiff with a Mercedes occupant, which is registered under the name of a private company in Delhi. The driver refused to pay the toll tax and presented a driving license of a nearby village when asked to. The license, however, was invalid as the name and the picture on it were different from the man behind the wheel.
This led to an altercation. According to a report in Hindustan Times, Kumar said, ‘When I reached near the cabin, I heard him shouting and rushed to pacify him. I asked him to pay the toll charge. He asked us to keep the driving licence and said he would be back soon to collect it. He said he would pay the toll charge once he’s back’. And things ended there. At least that’s what Kumar thought.
