After the embarrassing loss in the recently concluded MCD polls, it seems that the troubles aren’t dying down for Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). On Tuesday, one of the prominent leaders of AAP, Kumar Vishwas hinted at quitting the party, saying that he is being targeted. He accused some of the leaders of hatching a conspiracy against him and said that he won’t comprise with his principles. He said –
‘I know I will be targeted. The efforts to tarnish my image will be made. But let me tell those conspirators that I will not allow you to do so.’
Further talking about AAP Okhla MP Amanatullah Khan, he said that he was confident that action will be taken against Khan after he accused Vishwas of working for BJP to create a rift in AAP. But he was shocked to see that Kejriwal did not take any action against him, and said that it was then that he realised that Khan was just a mask and that there is some kind of conspiracy against him.
Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia went to Vishwas’ house to mend things and Kejriwal assured in front of the media that he will set things straight with Vishwas. Even though Kumar Vishwas hasn’t spoken to media since he attended the PAC meeting last night, a report by Navbharat Times said that he has placed some conditions before Kejriwal, saying that if the conditions are met, he will not leave the party. Here are the conditions –
- Zero tolerance towards corruption
- His opinion should be taken in the matters that affect the party workers, and that only senior leaders in the party shouldn’t take any decision on their own.
- He will not apologise for ‘We the Nation’ video in which he attacked Delhi CM Arvind Kejrwal for maintaining silence on allegations of corruption.
For those, who do not know about the video, Kumar Vishwas had recently released a 13-minute video in which he said –
‘If you are voted on the plank of anti-corruption, and then your own people are found to be indulging in corruption and you remain silent, people will question you.’
At the time, when Kejriwal blamed tampered EVMs for their loss in MCD polls, Vishwas had said that the party should introspect rather than blaming the machines.
And now the meeting of AAP’s Political Affairs Committee is underway at Kejriwal’s residence, after which, things might get clearer.
