Who doesn’t know about the infamous Babri Masjid demolition? The disputed site in Ayodhya has been the centre of Indian politics since 25 years. And while Supreme Court refused to give an urgent hearing in Babri Masjid-Ram Temple issue, a Muslim leader from Uttar Pradesh has come forward and started to work towards the construction of the Ram Temple on the disputed site.
Confused? Well, a Muslim organisation, Sri Ram Mandir Nirman Muslim Kar Seva Manch, in Lucknow has issued banners supporting the construction of the temple. Their leader, Azam Khan, is the man behind the movement, who claims that he does not have any political affiliation, but the reason for hi support towards the cause is something else.
According to a report by ScoopWhoop, Mohammad Azam Khan said that he strongly believes that the nation can progress only if Ram Mandir is built at the site, and that it seems to be the only solution to bring peace and harmony between Hindus and Muslims. The Muslim leader, who heads the one-year-old outfit, was recently attacked by an unidentified man, who threw ink at his face while he was returning after offering prayers at Badi Masjid. He said –
‘Lord Ram belongs to everyone in living in India. I consider him one of the Prophets. He is equally dear to Indian Muslims.’
This Muslim man gained popularity after the outfit put up 200 posters in Lucknow and Faizabad in favour of constructing the temple. Reports said that he has bene facing threats on social media as well as on calls since he has started supported the cause. He said –
‘Some accuse me of being anti-Muslim while others threaten to ostracise me from the community. I have been also offered money to construct mosque at the site. But I will not back down.’
Khan said that we want to build the temple amicably as the mosque can also be built on the other side of River Saryu. Khan has a construction business which he has named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He said that he dreams of a day when all the Muslims will unite to build the temple, and on the other hand, the Hindus will help in the construction of the mosque.
What do you think about this?
