In the times where social media plays such an important role in our lives, we believe anything and everything that we read on our Facebook accounts. All the media houses, these days, take to social media to make their posts viral, not everyone is to be believed. From the passport news to better electrification in India, there are some news reports that went hugely viral, but were fake.
Women no longer need to change names on their passport after marriage
If you were at all active on social media yesterday, you might have seen reports about Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing that women no longer need to change their named on the passport after marriage. And media reports highlighted the news as it was a big one. But it is not true.
The news report was redundant as there is no law or rule that made it mandatory for women to change their names on passport after they got married. And since yesterday, there have been debates on social media on this.
But media houses published this news without even clarifying the credibility of the statement, just because it was coming from the Prime Minister.
And this is not the first time. Here’s another one.
