According to a Right to Information (RT) reply, several products of Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali have failed the quality test conducted by Haridwar’s Ayurveda and Unani Office. Yes, you read it right. Around 82 samples of Patanjali products were collected between 2013 and 2016, out of which 32 have failed the test. The products that did not meet the quality standards are Patanjali’s Divya Amla Juice and Shivlingi Beej.
According to Uttarakhand state government lab report, the pH value was found to be much less than the prescribed limit in the amla juice. The pH value is the one measures the alkalinity of water soluble substances, and the products with pH value less than seven can lead to severe medical conditions like acidity and others.
Talking about Shivlingi Beej, the RTI reply said that 31.68% of foreign matter was found in it. However, Patanjali has downrightly rejected the allegations. Saying that all of this was being done to malign Patanjali’s image, the company’s Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna said –
‘Shivlingi Beej is a natural seed. How can we adulterate it?’
Not only this, the Canteen Stores’ Department (CSD) suspended the sale of a batch of Patanjali’s amla juice after it failed the quality test at West Bengal Public Health Laboratory.
What do you have to say to this, Ramdev ji?
