We all know that Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur started a campaign against Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) after they unleashed violence on the campus of Ramjas College almost a week ago. Kaur is the daughter of Captain Mandeep Singh who was killed in the 1999 Kargil War.
Kaur’s campaign was a part of a video she posted on Facebook a year ago where she appealed for peace between India and Pakistan. She held a placard in the video, which read, ‘Pakistan did not kill my father, War did’.
Similarly, she recently changed her Facebook profile picture to her holding a placard that read, ‘I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP.’
But it did not go well with many people. Especially a parliamentarian of BJP. BJP MP Pratap Simha went ahead to compare Kaur with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
Kaur was termed ‘anti-national’ and has also received rape threats. Click the slide to know what has happened so far in the Gurmehar Kaur controversy…
