People are celebrating the nine-day Hindu festival, Navratri, across the country these days, and while people don’t mind eating out in restaurants, there are some extremists who try to make decisions on behalf of them. A similar thing happened in Ghaziabad.
A girl named Charulata Biswas took to Twitter to inform people that a group of unidentified men barged into a Mc Donald’s outlet in Opulent Mall in Ghaziabad and asked the customers to stop eating meat. Yes, you read it right.
According to a report in TOI, the incident occurred on Thursday evening while she was in the mall. She said that they confronted eh security staff on duty and asked them to not allow any of the eateries to serve non-vegetarian food due to Navratri.

According to the report, the chief of the security staff said that they had arrived on Wednesday as well and claimed to be from a Hindu outfit. The chief said –
‘They asked us to come over to a corner on the ground floor of the mall and asked us not to permit eateries to serve non-vegetarian food. They did not misbehave with the security staff, nor did they assault us… the entire incident has been captured in closed circuit television cameras installed inside the mall premises.’
However, there was no violence or altercation, the incident has sent shock waves on social media. Charulata, who is a journalist by profession, said that she waited about hour-and-a-half after the incident to see if something more happens, but nothing happened. She even called up the same outlet the next morning to find out more, but the staff did not give any clarity as to what exactly had happened. She added that one of the staff members told her that all outlets of Mc Donald’s have temporarily stopped serving non-vegetarian food.
And this is not first of its kind incident. Some protesters, who claimed to be from Shiv Sena, forcibly shut down at least 300 meat shops in Gurugram, including a KFC outlet on Tuesday morning for Navratri.
