We bet you remember the Delhi eve-teasing case involving Sarvjeet Singh and Jasleen Kaur. Well, the Sarvjeet-Jasleen case went viral on social media, and while the girl gathered a lot of support in the beginning, slowly and gradually, people had a soft corner for the guy.
For those who do not know about the incident, a girl named Jasleen posted Sarvjeet’s pictures on Facebook and claimed that he passed vulgar comments while she was walking down the street in Delhi’s Tilak Nagar Area.
But as the case progressed, there were many twists and turns. It’s been nearly 1.5 years since the case started when Sarvjeet sought justice after she tried to malign his image. But how the case is developing will make you lose faith in Indian judiciary.
Well, if we talk about the ‘development’ in the case, there is NO development. All that is been happening in this case, is hearings.
Initially, he had to wait for six months to get the first date for hearing, which was on March 4, 2016 in Mahila Court Tis Hazari. And then he was given the second date – June 7, 2016 – but there was no conclusion. The judge, then, went on leave, and he got another hearing date for the case on November 21, 2016.
After which, he was asked to appear in the court on February 13, 2017 and nothing happened. Sarvjeet then was called to the court on March 4, 2017, but again, he was given another date. Now, he has to appear before the court on April 17, 2017. But we all know what is going to happen in April.
So, is this how the Indian judiciary works?
