TN farmers protest: OMG! Is India Today creating a FAKE photo story to create headlines?

Is TN farmers' protest fake? (Pic Courtesy: Twitter)

We all know that Tamil Nadu farmers had been protesting in the national capital, urging the central government to waive-off their farm loans. They ended their 41-day strike on Sunday, after they were assured by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami that their demands would be met. The farmer leading the protest, Ayyakanu, however, said that they will protest again if the demands are not met till May 25.

From running naked in front of PMO to drinking their urine, the TN farmers have been displaying a rather bizarre form of protest in Delhi since over 40 days. And while they did anything and everything to get Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet them, the PM did not. Meanwhile, there have been a lot of reports about the protest being ‘politically motivated’. While a lot of BJP leaders are pointing towards the same, but nothing has been proven as yet.

Amidst the chaos, SG Suryah, Vice-President of BJP Youth Wing, Tamil Nadu, posted some pictures of the ‘farmers’ being clicked in a barren land. He claimed that India Today drove the ‘protesting farmers from Tamil Nadu’ to a village in Noida to have a photoshoot.

Is India Today trying to fake a story for their next edition? Do the men in the pictures look like protesting farmers to you? Do you think they would have come to get the pictures clicked if they would have been protesting? Well, we bet NO. What do you have to say, India Today?

Meanwhile, let’s talk about what was actually happening in Delhi since last 40 days. According to a report by Neonationalist, the demands laid in the protest are mainly five – waiving off the farm loans, granting Rs 40,000 crore to TN state government allegedly for drought relief, interlinking Indian Rivers, banning chemical fertilisers and formation of Cauvery Management Board. But, if a closer look is taken at the demands, some of their demands do not count, as the work is already in progress. Rs 40,000 crore seem to be the only reason, pressing for their demands. According to the report, the demand of TN farmers says that the centre has to release the money to Tamil Nadu state government as drought relief, but there is no justified reason for that. The farmers’ version said that the outstanding Farmers debt is Rs 72,000 crore all over India, which implies 60% of India’s farmers reside in Tamil Nadu. And that is NOT true. Tamil Nadu is NOT in the top 10 agricultural states in India. Click here to read the full story.

Here’s why Tamil Nadu farmers STRIPPED outside PM Modi’s office!
