Can you recognise the man in the picture above? Well, we bet you cannot, and it’s not your fault. No one knew before the IPL auction that took place in February 2016 in which Mumbai Indians bought him for Rs 2 crore. But today, he is one of the star players of the team. He is Krunal Pandya.
Riding on Krunal Pandya and Nitish Rana, Mumbai Indians handed Sunrisers Hyderabad their first defeat of IPL 2017 T20. MI won by 4 wickets against the Hyderabad team on Wednesday and Krunal had a big role to play.
He took one wicket, and with three sixes and three fours, he score 37 runs in just 20 balls. And that is definitely not the record of a poor player. Krunal Pandya, who is the elder brother of all-rounder Hardik Pandya, started to play the T20 leagues in 2013 but he shot to fame after MI bought him for IPL 9.
Both of them started playing cricket together, Krunal used to play from Baroda earlier. He is Leading Run Scorer and Leading Wicket Taker for Baroda in 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. The man certainly had a good debut in the IPL 2016. He was given the Man of the match against Delhi Daredevils because he scored 86 runs from 37 balls and took wickets of Quinton De Kock and Zaheer Khan.
