Reliance Jio is reportedly ready to commercially launch its JioFiber broadband service for homes this Diwali. Planning to offer the data rates that could disrupt the broadband market, JioFiber could be offering 100GB data at just Rs 500. Yes, you read it right.
According to a report in Economic Times, the base pack from JioFiber broadband is likely to be 100GB for Rs 500, which is much lesser than what the rivals are offering. The rivals are currently offering half the amount of data at double the price. This is not the first time that reports about such an offer are doing rounds. Earlier, the launch of this offer was said to be in June. But in May, Reliance Jio’s Twitter handle tweeted that they have started the JioFibre broadband service in ten major cities on a trial basis, and that they will be offering the scheme across the country soon.
They tweeted –
‘The JioFiber Preview Offer has currently being launched in select areas of Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara. Our network is in the process of being rolled out to other cities.’
Back in September, Reliance Jio Chairman Mukesh Ambani talked about the company’s plan for offering a service which could give a speed of up to 1Gbps.
Meanwhile, rivals like Airtel are doing everything they can to remain in the broadband industry. Airtel has just offered its customers 1000GB data free for a whole year if they sign up online. Airtel is offering the customers 60GB data for Rs 899 while Rs 1099 plan gives you the speed of 40Mbps and offers 90GB data.
