Reliance Jio has taken a major step ahead of more Digitalisation in India but this time we will not see this change in Data plan or mobile launch; Reliance has become the partner with worldwide famous game “Pokemon GO”.
The extremely popular Augmented Reality game was launched on July 7 and became available in hundreds of countries across the globe, but failed to reach Indian stores until now. As the game reached its popularity in July, most users across India were able to download the game from third-party websites and by using proxy app stores.
Pokémon GO has over 500 million downloads globally said Mathew Oommen, President Reliance Jio. “Our partnership with Niantic not only brings access to the Pokémon GO app but also opens the door to more opportunities for our customers to enjoy content on Jio’s one-of-a-kind mobile broadband network,” he said.
The game requires a smartphone with an active data connection, camera and GPS to run. The partnership clearly intends to up the subscriptions rates of Reliance Jio connections, which is offering promotional free data, voice calling, roaming and more to all users until March 2017. Both the companies will be working in coordination to make the experience of Indian gamers more rich and enjoyable. Their strategy also includes the activation of Jio retail locations and charging stations as PokéStops and Gyms in the game and giving Indian gamers a chance to catch, train and fight it out at any of the outlet of Jio in India. JioChat, the social messaging app of Jio will have an exclusive Pokemon GO channel where all the players can meet, chat and be a part of the community where contests and events will be organised in order to make the game more exciting and enjoyable.
Pokéstops and Pokémon Gyms
Travelling across with your map open, you will come across Pokéstops and Pokemon Gyms. Pokéstops can usually found at a landmark where you can stock up things like Pokéballs, potions, Razz Berry, Revive, Eggs, Lucky Eggs, incense, Great and Ultra Balls and incubators.
As you catch more and more pokémon, your experience level increases. When you reach level 5, you will get to decide between three pokémon teams – the yellow team Instinct, team Mystic (blue) and team Valor (red). At level 5, you can now access Pokémon gyms, where you can train your pokémon, fight them and win the gym for your team.
