Do you like momos? Well, who doesn’t? It has gradually become the most popular street snack among the youth of our country. And BJP, who considers itself the protector of everything that is national, has now something to say about momos. After beef ban in India, a BJP leader has called for a ban on momos. Yes, you read it right.
Lawyer and BJP legislator Ramesh Arora of Jammu and Kashmir wants that the dumplings should be dumped, saying that they contain the carcinogenic monosodium glutamate or Ajinomoto. He thinks that momos are the ‘root-cause of several life-threatening diseases’. Arora said –
‘Ajinomoto, a kind of salt, causes serious diseases, including cancer. It is responsible for converting a minor headache and migraine… Besides memory loss, regular consumption for two to three years causes cancer of the stomach. They are found to be more harmful than alcohol and psychotropic drugs.’
Arora met Health Minister Bali Bhagat to persuade him to ban the sale of momos and Chinese street food.
And Twitter, for obvious reasons, swung into action, and gave their reactions on the proposed ban.
