We bet you’ve read, heard and seen incidents of animal cruelty on social media. And we are talking about yet another one here. A 22-year-old Mumbai student posted a video on Snapchat which showed him attacking a sleeping stray dog.
In the ten-second-video, Abhimanyu Nimbalkar, who is a law student of Dr DY Patil College of Law, can be seen hitting a sleeping dog. According to a report by Mid-Day, a non-cognisable complaint has been registered against the Mumbai student in Thane after he assaulted the dog.
Nimbalkar confessed to the crime, and the complaint was registered under Section 119 (cruelty to animals) of the Bombay Police Act. President of Pawa India Salim Charania reported the video to the police after he got the necessary details about the accused.
He also brought to everyone’s notice that the Mumbai student was not a first-time offender as he had found instances of animal cruelty on Nimbalkar’s social media as well.
Nimabalkar, in the past, also has slit the throat of a pigeon and posted the picture of its decapitated body on his Facebook timeline.
Charania, ‘We will see to it that he is punished and thinks twice before assaulting any animal in the future’.
